Artist's CommentsThis took me. So. Long. GAHHHHHHHHHH. But I like it a lot, and I hope ~dutchesscourtney does too. This is my depiction of a scene she sent me from her newest story, Crossing the Line, in which her character Julia McCoy completely nails a field show judge... (in my 4 years in marching band, I never had the privilege of hitting one) Poor man dropped his tape recorder! This also marks a "first" in my art: this was not done with the GIMP. I used Adobe Photoshop Elements from start to finish. I think it's a bit more confusing than the GIMP in some areas, but in others, it is definitely superior. Enjoy, ~dutchesscourtney. P.S. I'll be submitting my order for The Line tomorrow from Amazon.com! Time taken: At least 12 hours Materials: Photoshop Elements + Wacom Graphire4 tablet Music: DRUM CORPS! Credit: Julia McCoy and Quincy are (C) Courtney Brandt. Image is (C) =SaxGirl1010. CommentsGreat job!! Ha! Get those Judges! Me and my friends once talked about a drill move circling a judge and totally squishing him.

I've always wanted hit a judge too. I've come close, but I don't think I actually hit one. Looks like the quints (or are they just quads, I'm bad with names) brushed up against the judge. Sort of a sideswipe? is that what you were going for? -- Est Sularas oth Mithas: my honor is my life I could never give that up Jessica Lipinski at one point was telling me about how sometimes people run into the judges.....
-- Ars longa vita brevisArt is long life is short Icon made by: =SaxGirl1010 Member of =PastDervishandBanges Oh, poor Julia. She just keeps running into trouble - literally. My protagonists just make writing fun. When I wrote this scene, it simply happened and I realized it was the perfect one to illustrate. This was sooooooooo definitely worth the wait. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
If I was living in the country, I would send you a signed copy...but as it is, I only have on copy here in the UAE with me. Thank you for a wonderful Christmas present! Now, I have to go get started on the follow up to this scene... -- I'm fairly sure she's knocked one over at some point, and she's only a sophomore! Lucky!
At least in our marching band, "judge bowling" is the collective term for trying to knock judges over. It's all really a matter of chance - there's no guarantee that a judge will be too concentrated on recording critique into their tape recorder and in your drill set. -- Avatar by =MenInASuitcase Help me out: Commission me! Well, hey, thanks for providing a great scene to illustrate!
I'm flattered. You're so welcome for this, and thank you again. -- Avatar by =MenInASuitcase Help me out: Commission me! Me too... I'll never get to hit a judge.
Thanks! -- Avatar by =MenInASuitcase Help me out: Commission me! I've been hit by a guard member... not fun.
They're quints - named Quincy. -- Avatar by =MenInASuitcase Help me out: Commission me! |
