I was thinking about what I'd eventually draw as a submission for my most recently joined (and awesome) club, the *ManlyMenBrigade. No doubt it's run by *WieldtheKey, dA's biggest proponent of, well, manly men. Anti-bishies. Haha.
So, since I figured my old attempt at making Zack incredibly easy on the eyes wasn't good enough to stack up with the other submissions (and half the time he's with Versa anyway), I did an updated drawing. I tried a different coloring approach. Anatomy's okay with me on this one, except the weird proportions of his upper and lower half. He's kind of bending forward, so I thought his lower half would look smaller/farther back in space. Any suggestions? What silly person left the locker room door open after the lacrosse game? Golly! Yeah, she just created it around last week some time! I was ecstatic. If you've never seen *WieldtheKey's gallery, I demand that you do. She has THE hottest guys on dA. Period. That's OCs and fanart included.
Edible. Ooooh. *shivers* Though Zack's hair is all matted down from his helmet... which is so weird! It changes his whole look! Thanks as always! -- Avatar by =MenInASuitcase Help me out: Commission me! |DDDDD <

And the texture in the background! It's perfect for a dank, locker feel. To add on to that, maybe you could also incorporate some kind of wooden texture to go with it on the bench there!
His collar bones and neck area look fantastic, they're my favorite parts. I kind of feel, however, his neck is a bit too big for his shoulders, even though I know he's pretty much all muscle everywhere... xD
Hm, I can understand what you're trying to do with the leaning forward thing, making his shoulders look slightly bigger than his middle... It still seems to me that his shoulders are very big, and that I don't see -too- much of a hunched over/forward posture... I mean it's there, but for what it's worth, should be exaggerated a bit more? Maybe a small part of his torso could be visible on the other side of his left arm, to get that slouched lower back posture. (not too great on this pose myself....) Maybe his abs area could be shaded a bit more darkly, like his upper chest blocking some light (even though the light source isn't directly from the top.)
I imagine that, without the perspective, zach would have pretty large hands to begin with (he's a guy, he's a lacrosse player). So he has big hands, big fangers.. how about big knuckles 8D? His hands do look pretty big, and maybe this is just a personal taste of mine, I really like bony hands... I feel like more definition to his knuckles, VERY VERY MINOR, would make his hands (more particularly, his left) look bonier and less.. roundish, as I feel they are.
As I mentioned, your shading is fantastic and I really love the smoother style you've taken on since you've added pressure sensitivity, or something. One very small thing on the shading, I noticed- it's apparent that Zack has dark bags/circles under his eyes, but on his right eye, it looks more like a black eye he just got. Given the light source, I'd say there should be a bit more highlight somewhere depending on whether it's skin(bags) or hollow (circles, I guess. Do you get what I'm saying...? xD )
All in all, fantastic job, kelly (:
